Still bad at updating my blog, but I do try…

It’s been busy times in Noel Land. Project #1 has taken over all of my time for a while while we’ve done some flights and began to process the data. I went on one of the flights, but it was immensely boring being as my work is pretty much exclusively part of the ‘run up to flight’ effort and then the ‘process after flight’ effort. On the flight itself, I really didn’t do much. Project #2 is flying again in September a bunch, so that may be entertaining.

In non-work-related news, I’m getting pretty close to testing for my single stripe, but the physical requirements only get harder from here on out, so I’m not rushing or anything. I do my running on Saturday, usually, with the rest of the class and I’ve been going swimming a couple times a week and doing long 500 yard swims. My last was accomplished in just under 10 minutes, which is pretty good for me.

Vacations, celebrations, and other festivities *all over the place*. Last weekend I took some time off to head up to the San Francisco area to se my little sister, K, into college. Everything went well, we got her all moved in, and then me and my parents hung out in SF for a while, seeing sights and enjoying the city. A good time was had by all, and I got a bunch of pictures of random landmarks. So that’s cool.

And before that (yeesh, it’s been a long time since I’ve written) I went up to see my other sister, S, get married. Yay for wedded bliss! We even got a lovely thank-you card from S and M that was greatly appreciated and very sweet. Anyway, that went well, and I got to introduce J(5) to pretty much my entire family all at once. Very efficient use of time. I also got to show J(5) around the city, do some touristy things. Hightlights: seeing the glacier, the Alaska Fudge company (mint fudge!), and fresh salmon. I also got to take her by Dipac, the fish hatchery, which is a truly epic experience if the salmon are running, and they were, which was fantastique. We have some truly adorable pictures of us that I’ll have to share somehow. (I’m not good with snapfish yet). My camera takes big pictures!

Coming up: Birthday! Yeesh, I’m bad with all sorts of birthdays, mine included! I should probably put out a birthday list to family types. These days just creep up on me! Anyway, I’m going out to see TOOL (yay!) so close to my birthday it might as well be the same celebration. I also might use it as an excuse to invite other people out to Miss Kitties or Spundae.

Oh, Oh! And a friend at work has pointed me out to a celebration of awesome awesomeness at the freakin’ Getty Center down here! Evidently, once a month they turn the central courtyard into a giganticore techno club. Guys spinning vinyl records, full bars, all sorts of fun. I may just have to check that out.

And, also upcoming, an anniversary! September 11th marks the 1-year mark for me and J(5). So far we’re planning to celebrate at Buggywhip, nearby steak house, and then goof off in whatever fashion we feel like.

Man, with all the time I have these days, I seem to get less and less actually done. I blame strange schedules, vacation weirdness, and the desire to just unwind with my free time (so much better than school!) I’m still planning to do a rewrite of my story, but It’s been really awkward to do any work on it because all my writing is at my apartment, and I spend pretty much all my time at J(5)’s apartment because that’s where the tigger-kitten is. (He’s been sweeter and sweeter every day). I should really just move my computer over to her house. How’s *that* for commitment.

Yeah, either way I think I maybe need to re-evaluate my time-investment to make sure I’m using it all appropriately. Methinks I actually might be spending too much time at work. Jessie tends to work more hours than I do, especially when she’s trying to save up hours so she can take off work, and we carpool. So yeah, note to self, examine use of time and do more writing.

Actually, my drumming has fallen off my hobby list too, but that’s because the drums are back at my place too. Should just move all that over, build a studio, and really get my time used. Booyah!

Something for you to enjoy:

Dragonforce. A metal band so crazy-rediculous-bad they come back around to good again. Seriously, though, there’s some excellent guitar work, and this song just makes me want to mount my dragon and fly to the gates of Valhalla to challenge the gods with the power of ROCK. Which is pretty much the silliness they are going for.

Right, I’m off to do some other stuff! Hanging out with people and eating pizza to welcome a friend back from the strange lands of ‘Not-Raytheon’. Cheerio!
